Google said ChromeOS users will get an “early Alpha” of gaming controls tailored for touchscreen-only games.
The move comes years after Chromebooks gained access to Android apps and games. Mobile games are designed for touchscreen phones, which many computers lack.
ChromeOS 105 may imitate key inputs as touches to bridge the gap.
Google says, “We see game controls as a way to overcome initial issues with the ChromeOS gaming experience as users wait for developers to fully optimize their apps for ChromeOS,” while pushing game developers to include cross-device input support.
Google highlighted the public beta of a “gaming overlay” while announcing plans for a Steam Alpha earlier this year.
Google claims gamers will soon be able to use an editor to map controls for any Google Play games that function on a Chromebook, along with a mouse, gamepad, and touch controllers.
Google’s announcement featured a listing of all supported video games so far (see under), including joystick motion video games like Pixel Blade R – Revolution 2048 variations to examine swiping controls.
Single- and multi-button management video games like Hill Climb Racing and Faucet Titans 2.
If you have a gaming PC, console, and cellphone, you won’t want to play cell games from the keyboard.
Digging Into More Details
For teenagers who have a Chromebook as their main machine, or anybody who prefers this style of video games.
It would open up simpler entry to play, particularly whereas we watch for Steam to turn out there on extra ChromeOS units, and Google makes its video games retailer out there on Home windows PCs.
Customers don’t need to do anything special to try it out, as long as they’re using model 105 or higher, which reached the stable launch channel yesterday and will be available soon.
If you open a game with game controls support, Google will display the keys that correspond to the touch controls. To customize the controls, click the white square in the game’s window.
